DESCRIPTION:Our Nov. 3 Drive and Dine event includes a unique opportunity to visit a working winery during harvest season – and taste the end results. \nWe’ll be touring Premium Wine Group\, a custom-crush and co-packing wine-making facility that services many of Long Island’s wineries\, and Suhru and Leib Vineyards\, an award-winning winery and vineyard. \nThe cost is $40 per person\, and there is a limit of 20 people. \nCEO and head winemaker\, Russell Hearn\, will conduct the tour. The winery operates seven days a week during harvest season. There will be people working\, water on the ground\, grates\, drains\, and hoses to step over. Awards will be given to the first three places in each class. \nTwo Best in Show awards:\nVintage: 1996 and older\nModern: 1997 and newer \nSanitaire Class: Will consist of all other British Marques and will be judged solely on appearance\, cleanliness\, and general condition in four areas: engine\, trunk\, interior\, and exterior [originality is not judged]. Entrants will be grouped into classes based on model years. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Private Tour of the inner workings of the historic Fire Island Lighthouse. Learn how the Lightkeepers maintained the beacon responsible for maritime safety from the use of whale oil in the 1850s\, through the development of various fuels\, up to present-day technology. On our private top-to-bottom tour\, we will follow the Lighthouse Keeper on his rounds from the auxiliary generator and his workshop in the basement to the beacon in the lantern room of the lighthouse tower.\nEvent Details: \nDate: Saturday\, September 14\, 2024 \nTime: 9:00AM – 12:00PM \nLocation: Fire Island Lighthouse\n(at the east end of parking lot #5 at Robert Moses State Park) \nPricing: $20.00/person\nSpecial Notes:\nThis event requires about a ¾ mile walk on a boardwalk to get from the parking lot to the Lighthouse. Comfortable shoes are definitely recommended.\nThis will be a rain-or-shine event\nDUE TO THE SIZE OF THE SPACES IN THE LIGHTHOUSE\, THIS EVENT WILL BE LIMITED TO THE FIRST 25 MEMBERS WHO SIGN UP.
