SUMMARY:Hands-On Tech Session: High Amperage Welding
DESCRIPTION:VIEW EVENT PHOTOS \nOn Saturday\, Feb. 5th\, we will hold our first Club event of the year. This will be a hands-on tech session featuring instruction and utilization of high-amperage welding. We will hold this at Graham’s manufacturing facility in Calverton\, NY\, where\, in addition to the welding equipment\, we will get a chance to also see and use other special equipment\, such as plasma cutting. We will also see the manufacturing processes necessary to fabricate aluminum and steel for the production of traffic poles and sign structures for the Department of Transportation. \nCost: Free\nRefreshments: Will be available \nTravel Suggestions:\n1 – You’re certainly welcome to travel individually to Stony Brook Mfg.\n2 – Otherwise\, meet at the Airport Diner\, 3760 Veterans Memorial Hwy\, Ronkonkoma NY \nMeet time: 8:30AM and the group will leave promptly at 9:00AM\nEquipment: If you have a welding helmet please bring it with you. However\, if you do not there will be helmets available for use. \nWill be a rain or shine event. \nThe equipment will be available so if anyone has a repair requiring welding you are welcome to bring it with you. This could include things like a trailer or furniture. \nThis will be a unique opportunity to see how the professionals work with larger pieces of metals and the special equipment necessary to fabricate them.
