Tractor Pull & Winery Visit

Seems like it is time to have a club event on the east end of Long Island. It will be a two part event:

1. Visit the Hallockville Farm Country Fair and the Long island Antique Power Association
2. Have food and refreshments at the Suhru & Lieb Winery.

#1 Visit the Hallockville Farm Country Fair. www.hallockville.org Activities include: demonstrations by traditional crafts people, live music, children’s activities, pony rides, historic house tours and a bake sale.

Also included on the farm grounds is the Long Island Antique Power Association. www.liapa.com Their exhibits include a diverse collection of antique engines such as vintage tractors, trucks, and stationary engines of all types and sizes. They will also be conducting a Tractor Pull. SO what exactly is a tractor pull???

A tractor pull is a motorsport competition where tractors of all sizes compete to pull a weighted sled as far as possible. The goal is to determine the strongest machine and best drive by seeing which vehicle can pull the sled the farthest. The sled’s weight increases as it is pulled making it a test of both horsepower and traction.

TIMING

If you prefer you can go directly to the Farm-However we are planning a group drive that will begin at:

North Shore Heritage Park

Meet time will be 9:30 and the group drive will begin At 10:15. Drive distance will be about 23 miles. Plan is to arrive at Hallockville Farm at 11:00.  There will be water and snacks at the rendezvous

#2 After the conclusion of the tractor pull we will once again drive as a group to Suhru & Lieb Vineyards to enjoy a relaxed gathering with food and refreshments on their outdoor terrace

So we will know how much refreshments to bring for the group drive, arrange for group parking at Hallockville Farm and reserve tables on the outdoor terrace at the vineyard.  When you RSVP, please let me know if you will be joining us at the vineyard as space is limited.

This will be an interesting event combining a traditional country fair, antique engines, a unique motorsport tractor pull and a relaxed gathering at the winery on their open terrace
